What does International Day of Persons with Disability mean to you? We speak to Krystal Matthews, LDS Board Member.
At Lutheran Disability Services we are proud to have seven volunteer Directors who help govern our organisation. Earlier in 2024 Krystal Matthews joined our Board and shared with us what International Day Of Persons with Disabilities means to her:
“This year, as a disabled person, I won’t outline why we belong in leadership positions—this should be a given in 2024. People with disabilities are hard-working, adaptive, and capable. Our lived experiences and professional expertise are crucial for creating a sustainable future for everyone. On International Day Of Persons with Disabilities, I urge non-disabled individuals to reflect on any barriers in the workplace for disabled people and work towards solutions that elevate our leadership potential. The disabled community recognises our value; we need others to advocate alongside us for societal change. Join this important movement!” – Krystal Matthews
The theme for this year’s celebration is Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future.
Join with us on December 3 to celebrate this important day. https://www.idpwd.com.au/
