From the desk of the CEO – December 2022

Dear clients, friends and families.

I continue to be encouraged by the work that the LDS team do in partnership with clients and families to create an environment where our clients feel they belong and have a meaningful and purposeful connection within their community.

It is so important to me that LDS lives out our faith values of sharing the love of God and serving each other. If we truly believe that all people are valued and have dignity and purpose then it is not hard to see our role is to empower each other to reach our full potential.

This year has been difficult due to COVID challenges, but our clients resilience and ‘can do’ attitude has been amazing.

There have been many examples where our clients have been achieving their goals. Seeing clients connect and contribute to in their local community programs is really encouraging for us all at LDS. Thanks to everyone who has helped to make this happen.

By the time you read this we will have held our end of year family gathering and nativity play on November 26th. I thank everyone who participated in sharing the successes of the year and joining into the Christmas spirit with the carol singing.

On December 3rd we will celebrate the International Day for People with Disability. We are looking forward to connect with local congregations to celebrate and acknowledge the unique gifts and talents we can each bring to making our communities a more inclusive and welcoming place.

I am so proud to lead this great organisation and I know that next year we will continue to evolve and improve in how we can work with our clients to help them achieve their life goals and create happy homes.

I want to especially thank everyone for looking out for each other during Covid. This is going to remain important for some time to come and I know we won’t get complacent but will continue to deliver excellent service in line with our values.

I trust you can take a bit on time off to rest and recharge over the holiday season. I wish you and your families a very merry and blessed Christmas and I look forward to all that 2023 can throw at us. Thank you to everyone who contributes to our mission and especially our wonderful clients. We are so blessed to be a part of your lives and thank you for being so awesome!

Blessings,
JvR
